I’ve spent a good part of the year learning hand lettering. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite hand lettering tools plus some others that are on my list in this Hand Lettering Gift Guide.

1. Pentel Water Brush – These beauties are on my list this year. Hand lettering looks amazing when you combine it with watercolors and these brushes make it so easy.
.Tombow Dual Brush Pens – I could sing praises all day about these brush markers. They are my favorite and create such vibrant colors.
.Adventures in Lettering – This book is written by an amazing hand lettering blogger, Dawn. She’s got mad skills and you definitely want to learn from her.
.Creative Lettering and Beyond – This book really breaks down all aspects of hand lettering. I own it and refer back to it often.
.Watercolor Paper – Have you tried to hand letter with watercolors? If so, you’ll definitely need a good quality watercolor paper.
.Tombow Fudensoke Soft and Hard Tip Brushes – Another great pen choice from Tombow.
.Strathmore 11×14 Drawing pad – I used to just wing it with my designs but I learned very quickly that sketching things out is the best way to go. My sketch pad has become my best friend.
.iPad Pro – I don’t own an iPad Pro but it is definitely on my wishlist. This enables you to hand letter digitally.
.Artist’s Loft Watercolor Pan Set – I own this watercolor set and love it. You really can’t beat it for the price. I’m slowly learning how to hand letter with watercolors and this is a great set.
.Artist’s Loft Watercolor Paint Tubes – I also own these paint tubes. Some people like pan watercolors and other people like liquid watercolors. It’s just a matter of preference.
.Koi Watercolors – These watercolors are a bit more expensive than Artist’s Loft. I don’t own them but many of my hand lettering watercolor friends do and they swear by them.
.Porcelain Palette – If you want to work with watercolors, you’re going to need a good palette for mixing colors.
