Ombre Canvas Art
Hey friends! Today I’ve got another canvas art project to share. Last week I shared the artwork that I made for my daughter’s room and I’ve become totally hooked on canvas art. I absolutely LOVE how this one turned out. It reminds me of listening to the ocean waves. And since it will be going in my coastal themed master bedroom, it’s pretty perfect.This time around, I created some Ombre Canvas Art.
I’m not really sure if the ombre trend is on the way out or not. It’s been around for a while now and I still love it. Here’s how you can make your own Ombre Canvas Art.
First…choose your color! Any color. I recommend choosing a deep hue. I chose Turquoise and I used DecoArt Americana Satin Finish Paint. You can use whatever acrylic paint you would like though. You will also need some white paint.
Get a hold of a paint palette (only a few bucks at your craft store) or a paper plate will work too. Squirt some of your chosen color onto the palette or plate. Using a sponge brush, drag your paint horizontally across the top of your canvas. The messier the better. You don’the want it to look too perfect. Speaking of messy, this would be a great craft for the kids. Very easy!
Next, take some of your paint color and mix in a little bit of white paint. Brush this color onto the canvas the same way, overlapping the first color a bit so that they blend.
Continue adding more and more white to your original color and working your way down the canvas until the bottom shade is a very light version of the original paint color. Mine turned out almost white but you can still see a hint of blue.
You’re done!
Hang your masterpiece up. Possibly sign it because its just that good. And when people come over and ask where you bought it, you just say “um,yeah, I made that!”
