If you missed my post over at Blissful and Domestic Last week, you’re in luck because I’m sharing it with you here today.
I hope everyone on the East Coast is safe after Sandy. I live in coastal North Carolina and we usually get hit hard with hurricanes every year. I feel very thankful that this one missed us. But my heart goes out to everyone that was affected. This really got me counting my blessings, which leads me to the craft I am sharing today..My “Filled With Thanks” Mantel
What do you think? I like the simplicity of it.
This is a really easy and cheap craft.
Here is what you will need:
Remove the labels from your bottles and let them dry.
After the bottles have completely dried, spray them with a few coats of paint, letting them dry between each coat. I think I used 3 or 4 coats to get good coverage.
When the paint has dried, start at the bottom of the bottle (right above the “lip” at the bottom) and glue your jute to the bottle.
Wrap the jute around the bottle, gluing as you go. I wrapped mine around 5 times.
Then start at the top of the bottle (again, right below the lip) and glue and wrap, glue and wrap.
I used a bit too much glue in the photo above. Make sure to use a bit less.
You can wrap all the way to the top if you want, I just chose this look. Repeat with 5 more bottles. They look so cute all lined up in a row, don’t ya think?
Using your sharpie, write one letter of the word “thanks” on each bottle. A thick sharpie makes this step a bit easier.
Insert some fall flowers into the bottles.
I found these flowers at Michael’s the other day and they were 70% off because all the Christmas stuff is out already. SCORE!
You now have the perfect decorations for your mantel or anywhere else.
After having these up for about a week, I decided to add a few more items to my Thanksgiving mantel.
I would love to see YOUR Thanksgiving mantels. Make sure to stop by my Thanksgiving themed link party to link them up.
Do you decorate for Thanksgiving or do you go straight to Christmas?
I hope you all have a wonderful, thankful season.
This is so pretty and festive! Would love it if you linked up on my blog hop http://www.w-t-fab.com/search/label/bloghop. Also let me know if you’d like to follow each other!
