These Vapor Shower Disks will unclog your stuffy head in no time!

Vapor Shower Disks made with essential oils! Toss in the shower when you are congested!

It’s cold season and let me just tell you, I’m about DONE with this cold weather.  The only good thing is that we don’t have any snow.  I HATE shoveling that stuff.  It never fails though, the kids come home from school with stuffy noses and colds and soon I get it.  And when I get it, it always seems to be WAY worse than when the kids have it.  I’m knocked on my butt for days yet in a mom’s world there is no such thing as a sick day, right? When the kids get congested, I use vapor rub on their chests to help unclog their sinuses.  But they don’t like that it is all sticky and then  their pajamas stick to them and it is just uncomfortable.

So I put together these soothing Vapor Shower Disks so we can clear our congestion in the shower and skip the gunky sticky stuff on our chests.

 VAPOR SHOWER DISKS INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/3-1/2 cup water
  • 15 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 silicone mold

HOW TO MAKE VAPOR SHOWER DISKS

  1. Place baking soda in a bowl
  2. Add water to mixture and gradually stir until a paste forms.  You may not need all the water. I used just under 1/2 cup
  3. Add in essential oils and stir completely
  4. Place mixture into silicone mold
  5. Leave on counter to dry overnight or place in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes to dry.

I have seen this recipe done with a muffin tin but I highly recommend the silicone mold.  I tried it the first time with a muffin tin and cupcake liners and the liners just stuck to the disks. When I tried to peel them off, the disks just crumbled.  It totally could have been user error because I am pretty impatient and put mine in the oven to dry so maybe that was why. But when I used the silicone mold, they popped out really easily.

Keep these in your bathroom and toss one on the floor of the shower. The hot water will dissolve it and create a soothing steam that you can breathe in to clear your sinuses.

  1. I received some homemade shower tablets before and they dissolved almost instantly even though they weren’t directly in the stream of water. The store-bought ones seemed to last a lot longer. Do these hold out for at least a couple of minutes?

    1. Hi Roni,
When I used my tablets, they did not dissolve instantly. They will not last for an entire shower but do hold up for a few minutes.
