Sunburn is the worst!  I’m very adamant about putting sunscreen on my kids. No pool time or beach time or outdoor time without it in the summer. But even when I am super careful, sometimes sunburn happens. And when sunburn happens, you just want relief… fast.  So I made these DIY Sunburn Relief Pads for all those times when my sunscreen application skills are less than stellar.

DIY Sunburn Relief Pads made with lavender essential oil sooth sunburned skin and minor skin irritations.

To make these you will need:

Circular cosmetic pads

Lavender essential oil

Small glass jar

DIRECTIONS

First, fill a small ramekin with water.

Add 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil to the water and mix together

Dip the cosmetic pads into the water and then squeeze out the excess water. you want the pads moist but not soaked.

Place the pads into the glass jar and place the lid on tightly so the pads will not dry out.

These have come in quite handy a few times already this season.  In addition to relieving the pain from a sunburn, they also work well on mosquito bites. I like to use these pads instead of the blue aloe gel that we have used in the past because there is no gloppy mess.

Be sure to pack these for your beach vacation. And while you’re at it, check out this post while you prep for your trip:
