I am really enjoying making Halloween decor this year. I put up a cute Candy Corn Bunting Banner this week and today I’m going to show you how to make an adorable DIY Chevron Pumpkin. If you haven’t noticed, I kind of like chevron in a big way and I’ve used it in a big way in my house. Remember my chevron curtains? But back to the pumpkin..
To make this chevron pumpkin, you can go the easy route and buy a white pumpkin and paint the black chevron pattern or you can do what I did and use what you already have. Still easy.
You will need:
Pumpkin
Spray Paint
Tape
Decide what color you want the chevron to be and then spray paint your pumpkin that color. I wanted mine black.
Then tape a chevron pattern all around your pumpkin. I just eyeballed it. The picture below is after I painted the pumpkin white because it is easier to see the tape. Black tape on a black pumpkin just didn’t make for a really great picture. After you tape your chevron pattern, spray paint your pumpkin white.
After it dries, peel off the tape to reveal your chevron pattern. You may notice that I used electrical tape. Please don’t do this. I beg you. Don’t do it! Electrical tape peels paint right off…. like so
So I needed to do a bit of touch-up work with some black acrylic paint. But after the touch up, I had a pretty stylish pumpkin.
I’d love to see your Halloween decor. Leave me a link to yours below.
