If you haven’t already heard, we bought a house!  I’m so super excited I could just burst.  We close in July and I am just so anxious to move in and get started decorating. We have lived in a rental for the past 6 years and although it has served us well, I never quite felt like it was a “home”.  Mainly because I was so restricted with what I could do with it.  But NOW.  NOW is a glorious time because I’m choosing paint colors, picking out flooring, and  planning a kitchen renovation. My style has certainly changed and evolved over the years. But ever since we have moved to the beach, I have fallen in love with coastal decor.  I call my style Coastal Farmhouse style.

When I think of coastal decor, I think of neutral furniture accented with soft, calming blue and green pillows, curtains and decor. Since we are moving into a home that is a bit bigger than our current home, I’ve been on the lookout for furniture and decor. I’ve found these pieces that would work well with my coastal style.

These coastal decor ideas will add a modern beachy touch to your home.

COASTAL DECOR IDEAS

I’ve been looking for a great throw to replace all the ratty blankets that we have.  This one looks gorgeous and soft.  I love the texture and it’s the perfect color for a beach home.

Aqua Chenille Throw

We currently have a gray sofa and love seat but when the time comes to purchase a new set, I definitely want to go with a lighter color to get more of the coastal vibe.  This sofa looks perfect.  I love the tufted look.

Tan Sofa

These are the pillows that we currently have. They are actually pillow covers  and come in a set of four (4 different designs).

Coastal Throw Pillows

I love the rope accent on this lamp. It’s beachy without going too over-the-top.

Rope and Glass Jug Table Lamp

I am in love with this table and am planning on buying one (maybe two) for the new house.  We currently have a side table with the same “X” pattern so this table would match well. I love that it is real wood and comes unfinished so you can customize it the way you want. Since most of our tables are white, I’ll probably paint mine all white.  But it would look great with white legs and a stained wood top too.

Hampton Coffee Table

A jute rug is a must if you are going for a coastal feel. This rug would work well in a family room, play room or an office.

Natural Jute Area Rug

You can never have enough trays, right?  This one has the perfect weathered look for your coastal decor.  I love the rope handles too.

Rustic Wood Serving Tray

When decorating with the coastal style, you need to add pops of color.  This blue lantern would look great layered on the rustic serving tray.

Blue Vintage Lantern

I like to decorate my walls with big bold pieces. The colors and the weathered look of this clock make it the perfect modern beach house wall decor.

 Rustic Wood Clock

I’m really excited to buy some new chairs.  I’ve been searching a while for the perfect casual chair for lounging, reading or just hanging out.  I really like the nail head detail on this one.

Nail Head Accent Club Chair

I hope you’ve gotten some inspiration from these coastal decorating ideas.
