Have you seen Big Hero 6 yet? It is such a cute movie. We saw it one of the last weeks it was in the theater and my kids absolutely loved it. So they were really excited to learn that the dvd was coming out! The day it came out happened to be a snow day and the kids were off school so we headed directly to WalMart to pick up a copy of the movie. As if the kids weren’t excited enough about the movie, they were ecstatic when I told them that we would be having a Big Hero 6 Party with their friends later in the week.
If you’ve never seen Big Hero 6, it’s about a character named Baymax. He’s big, white and very cuddly.
Here is the set-up that I created for the food table. I like to use food that color coordinate with the party. In this case, I used red.
I think my favorite part are the Baymax balloons. I just drew some eyes on with a black Sharpie. Such an easy and affordable decoration.
Cute and cuddly Baymax was center stage guarding the food.
Since the party was after school, I had some healthy snacks in addition to the sweets. I made Baymax Bites by dipping marshmallows into red melting chocolate. Add some paper straws and this is such a fun and easy snack.
I also made Yokai Oreos by piping the red melting chocolate onto open faced Oreos.
For the healthy snacks, I served strawberries and red bell peppers. To drink, I served Honey Lemon Punch which was white grape juice mixed with a splash of Sprite and served in a mason jar.
I also had water bottles with cute labels.
The movie revolves around science so I set up a simple science project for the kids: baking soda and vinegar volcanos. If you have never mixed baking soda and vinegar before, then you are totally missing out on one of the funnest chemical reactions ever. The kids kept adding more and more baking soda and vinegar to their bottles until they overflowed.
After the food and the science experiment, the kids sat down for a movie viewing.
