May is for Mothers. Do you have that special gift picked out yet? I had a little help from Martha Stewart Crafts this year and was able to create this elegant Etched Glass Pitcher.

Here Comes the Sun: Etched Glass Pitcher

Isn’t it lovely? My mom lives 12 hours away in Ohio and I don’t get to see her very often.  She and my dad can’t travel anymore and I would love to be able to sit down with her for a Mother’s Day Brunch. I hope  that next year I can and this pitcher will be front and center filled with her favorite drink.

These stencils and etching cream from Martha Stewart were so easy to use. Here is how you can make your own gift that will make you your mother’s favorite child.

You will need

Glass Pitcher
Martha Stewart Stencils
Martha Stewart Etching Cream
Brush

Clean your glass according to the directions on the etching cream bottle. Make sure to dry the surface well. Adhere the self adhesive stencils to the glass pitcher. This is somewhat tricky because of the curvature of the glass but the stencils can be repositioned so you can adjust them until they are perfect!

Paint the etching cream over the stencil in a thick even coat.

Leave the cream on for 15 minutes and then rinse off under running water.

I etched three words around the pitcher: “Pour, Sip, Enjoy”.  The perfect combination for the perfect Mother’s Day.

  3. Your pitcher turned out great. I could see myself pouring a nice tall glass of lemonade from it. Now to make one myself 🙂
