Peppermint is one of my favorite scents of the holiday season. This year I want to give the gift of pampering so I whipped up some peppermint body butter.

I’m kind of on a peppermint kick lately. I love the flavor and nothing screams Christmas more than peppermint. Except of course maybe some ugly Christmas sweaters. Peppermint gifts are so fun to give and to get. This gift is cheap and easy to put together and whoever is lucky enough to get this peppermint body butter is going to LOVE you. Make sure to make enough to keep for yourself too!

PEPPERMINT BODY BUTTER INGREDIENTS AND SUPPLIES

I love using essential oils in my holiday gifts because of how easy (and natural) they are.  You can use them to make so many things. Think lotions, scrubs, soaps. You can also use them in baking.

HOW TO MAKE PEPPERMINT BODY BUTTER

  1. Place vegetable shortening and coconut oil into an electric mixer and mix together until it is whipped and creamy.
  2. Add a few drops of pink food coloring (optional) and a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Mix together well.
  3. If you do not have any essential oil, you can substitute peppermint extract but you will need to use approx. 1 tsp. of extract.

Package the body butter  into small glass jars. I found these jars in the dollar bin at Target but you can also get them on Amazon. The amount of body butter that the recipe makes completely fills a 4 ounce size jar. I also had a bit of body butter left over.  Add a simple tag and you have the perfect Christmas gift.

I love this quick and easy Peppermint Body Butter! Makes a great Christmas gift and comes with a free printable tag!

This body butter goes great with my peppermint sugar scrub and peppermint foot soak. Package them all up together for the perfect Christmas gift! I’ve created some free printable tags for you to use too!

You can access the tags in the resource library, available to my email subscribers.

    1. Did you try the crisco? If so, what is your feedback on this? I’ve only every used shea butter, but it can be expensive.

    1. Hi Cathy! Yes, I used Crisco. You can purchase the coconut oil by clicking on the link in the post. It takes you to the product page on Amazon.

    1. I did not have this problem but if you are concerned about staining, I have seen recipes that use shea butter instead.

  1. Hi Kelly, I made this today and the consistency is more liquid than a cream. Any idea where I went wrong or what I can do to correct it?

    1. Hi Melissa,
I’m sorry you were having trouble with the consistency. You could try using Shea butter. Or possibly the coconut oil was in liquid form? I used room temperature coconut oil. Hope this helps.

  2. I have made this recipe for at least three Christmas seasons and my recipients of these love it! I like to use more peppermint oil than you suggest. I have also considered using tea tree oil. I usually put the jars in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm the oil up a bit and sometimes have to do this in the summer when the weather gets warmer. Thank you so much for the wonderful idea!
