Moving on…..

Have you taken a look at my beautiful Christmas Mantel yet?  Other than our tree, it is my favorite area of the house right now.

The centerpiece of it all is my Felt Rosette Wreath.

Felt Rosette Wreath

I promised you a tutorial so here it is…

Materials

White foam wreath form
Red felt
Straight pins
Circle template  (approximately 2″ diameter)
Scissors

1.  Using your circle template, trace your circles onto your felt.  I bought about fifteen 8.5×11 sheets of felt.  Trace circle onto one piece and stack the sheets of felt together to cut out multiple circles at one time.

2.  Fold each piece of felt in half and then in quarters.

3. Place a straight pin through the felt and attach it to the wreath.  Once you get a few in, it begins to look like flower petals.

4.  Do this over and over until your wreath form is full. Make sure that you attach the felt in different directions and that you “fluff’ the petals to cover the pinheads.

I’m not exactly sure of the number of circles that you will need but it is somewhere around 200 or so.  I think the entire project took maybe 4 hours to complete. Here is a closeup.  I think it looks a bit more like velvet than felt.

I hung my wreath over the window on my mantel with fishing line.  I placed 2 thumbtacks into the back of the wreath and wrapped the ends of the fishing line around the thumbtacks.

Here is what it looks like at night.
