We have almost completed my daughter’s bedroom makeover. She has decided that the princesses had to go and opted for a more “grown up” theme of Paris with a pink and black color scheme. The first project that I made for her was a Memo Board Station for all her artwork. She is quite the little artist and currently she likes to draw all things relating to fashion.  She loves to draw people and fairies and I love looking at all the different fashions that she puts them in. So I thought that I would give her a little fashion inspired artwork to go with her new room.  It is a Paris theme after all and nothing says Paris more than fashion!  I came up with this DIY Canvas Art.

Easy DIY Canvas Art!

This Canvas Art is super easy to make and it adds a bold statement to her room. Let’s get started, shall we?

Supplies you will need:

(4) 11×17 Canvases

Paint (a sample paint jar will do)

Sponge brush

Black Vinyl

Silhouette Cutting Machine (optional)

First, use your sponge brush to paint your canvases in a zig-zag motion from the upper left to the lower right.  I did one sweep of the canvas  and then I wiped off my brush a little.

I then went back over the canvas with the dry brush and “dragged” some of the paint toward the edges. Make sense?

While the canvases were drying, I opened up my Silhouette software and downloaded three images of dress forms and one of a shoe and cut them out using black vinyl. So right about now you are saying “but I don’t have a Silhouette”.  Here’s the solution… print out the image that you want, cut out the image, tape it on top of your vinyl and use an exacto knife to carefully cut the vinyl. Making sure your canvas is dry, place your vinyl onto the canvas.

I hung these up in a grouping over my daughter’s bed using 3M strips. Have you tried them yet? They are my go-to item for hanging everything! There is no damage to the walls and it is easy to adjust your picture if it is not hanging perfectly level. And if you rent (like me) they are perfect to use.
