Girl’s Room Organization

I don’t know about you but whenever I walk into my daughter’s room, it is just ONE BIG MESS!  The OCD organizer in me just can’t stand it.  I thought that I had a good system in place but it was obviously not working.  I had clear storage bins under the bed for all her toys but they didn’t seem to hold enough.

One day, I just couldn’t stand it anymore.  I think I almost had a meltdown over it.  Maybe I was having a bad day and maybe it was just the straw that broke the camel’s back but I just LOST it.  Thankfully, my husband realized the need for immediate action to save my sanity.  He went out and came back with some fabric bins.  Here is the system I have now.

I have to say, it makes me breathe a sigh of relief.  Now, it doesn’t always look like this because kids will be kids but for the most part, she is good about putting her things away and now they are also out of sight too. The hubby also picked up some bins for her bookshelf to hold smaller items.

I also had to tackle another problem area: the closet.  It has no shelving and everything was just jumbled all over the floor.  I decided to go with clear bins with chalkboard labels that can easily be redone when the toys change.  Here is her closet now:

I put all her dress-up clothes in a fabric bin for easy access. Her bigger toys are on the top shelf of her closet along with winter blankets.
This is the other side of her closet.

The sheets next to the box have been organized by folding the flat sheet and the fitted sheet and then placing them both in the matching pillow case.  This way, there is no searching for matching sets.  Everything is together.  Ahhhhh… I can breathe a bit easier now.
When things look like this, I feel a LOT less stressed.
How do you organize your child’s room?
